Here are some YouTube videos from different influencers that give their take on switching to Linux:
- The Easiest Passage To Linux No One Is Talking About! By NixNexus
- This video is a good complement to my ‘Have you FLOSSed today?‘ article. It talks about using software that is available in both Windows and Linux. Once you are comfortable using them in Windows, then switching to Linux will be way easier.
- Things To Know Before Switching To Linux By GNULectures
- Very good video for things to consider before taking the jump. The differences between Windows and Linux, running software, hardware considerations, preparing for the jump, and possible issues for some gamers.
- How To Switch To Linux For Beginners… By Mutahar “Muta” Anas aka SomeOrdinaryGamers
- This video is a little older, and some minor things mentioned have since been updated. This video is a little lengthy, however, he does go into great detail on everything you would want to know about becoming a new Linux user and installation of Linux. If you want to skip the introduction stuff start the video at 5:35, choosing your Linux at 6:24, or 8:35 getting ready to install Linux Mint.
- Should you switch to Linux from Windows? Know this first! – By Liron Segev aka TheTechieGuy
- Even though my choice for an ideal Linux distribution is Linux Mint, his choice is Zorin OS and he does a good job of giving you the tour of it. He does encourage you to try different distributions and adds some points that might be a reason to hold off making the switch.
- Install Linux instead of Windows 11 – Here’s how! By Linus Tech Tips
- A quick mention of why you would want to switch then they go into installing and setting up Pop OS. Now if this channel does not convince you, nothing will as this channel has over 16 million subscribers!
The reason that I posted YouTube Links instead of making my own article is why reinvent the wheel, when these guys have already done this with a whole lot more resources than I will ever have.
Like I have said before, for the average computer user switching to Linux is a good recommendation. However, for users that are entrenched into proprietary software that do not have Linux support (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Quickbooks) and users that play online games that have anti-cheat, this move may not be for you (yet).
